Shea is currently Regional Vice President, Sales and Client Management, of the Midwest region for Unum Group. Unum is the world’s largest provider of disability insurance and a perennial leader across all product lines within the group ancillary insurance industry. Unum pays nearly $7 billion in benefits each year and protects over 36 million people worldwide.
Shea began his career at Unum in 2001 as a Sales Representative in Atlanta after graduating with a degree in Political Science from Yale University, where he played on the baseball and football teams. From 2008 to 2011, he served as Managing Director of the Denver office before moving on to manage the San Francisco/Honolulu operation from 2011 to 2014. In August of 2014, he was promoted to his current role as RVP of the Midwest region. Shea completed his graduate studies at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in April of 2018, when he earned his MBA.
Shea is actively involved in the community and serves as Chair of the Associate Board of ACE Scholarships. ACE is a nonprofit organization that raises money and awards financial scholarships to students from low income families to help them attend a school of their choice. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Denver Sports Council. The council works to bring high profile athletic competitions to Denver.
He resides in downtown Denver, Colorado with his wife, Sarah. Shea and Sarah have four children as Horace (3) and Gus (1) recently were joined by twin babies Louise and Hugh.
